The Best Quiche Recipe Ever

Quiche is a versatile and delicious dish that has become a staple in many cuisines around the world. This savory tart is made with a flaky pastry crust, filled with a rich and creamy egg mixture, and can be customized with a variety of ingredients to suit any taste or occasion.
From the classic quiche Lorraine with bacon and cheese, to vegetarian and vegan options with spinach and mushrooms, the possibilities are endless. Quiche is perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, and can be served hot or cold, making it a great option for picnics, potlucks, or buffets.

Delicious Homemade Quiche Recipe

Making quiche can actually be easy if you have access to a simplified recipe with every steps needed to make quiche, outlined and simplified. That is what this recipe is. Helps even newbie cooks make the best quiche.

Ingredients
  

For the crust:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour 250g
  • 1 teaspoon salt 5g
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small pieces (115g)
  • 1/4 cup ice water 60ml
For the filling:
  • 3 large eggs 180g
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream 360ml
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Swiss (115g)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham or bacon 60g
  • 1/2 cup sautéed mushrooms and onions 60g
  • Salt and pepper to taste 2g

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom
  • Pastry brush
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Saucepan
  • Oven

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Make the crust: In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Add butter and use a pastry blender or fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together. Wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the crust and place it in the tart pan. Trim the edges and prick the bottom with a fork.
  4. Line the crust with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden.
  5. Remove the parchment paper and pie weights or beans. Return the crust to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  6. Make the filling: In a saucepan, sauté the mushrooms and onions until tender. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, shredded cheese, diced ham or bacon, salt, and pepper.
  7. Pour the filling mixture into the baked crust and top with sautéed mushrooms and onions.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

Tips:
  • Use a variety of fillings, such as spinach and feta or bell peppers and onions, to change up the flavor.
  • Add some diced cooked vegetables, like bell peppers or zucchini, to the filling for added nutrition.
