  • 1 lb fresh green beans washed and trimmed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or unsalted butter
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper or to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or zest optional, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp slivered almonds or toasted sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Green Beans
  1. Wash and trim the green beans, cutting off the ends if needed.
Heat the Skillet
  1. Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil or butter and allow it to warm up until shimmering (or melted for butter).
Cook the Green Beans
  1. Add the green beans to the skillet in a single layer. Stir occasionally for 4-5 minutes, letting the beans start to blister and soften slightly.
