- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Pumpkin Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Assemble the Cake:
- Pour the pumpkin mixture into the 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the pumpkin mixture.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped pecans over the top for added crunch.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until the top is golden and the pumpkin layer is set.
- Cool & Serve: Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
