- Prepare the Fruit: Slice the apple, pear, and orange, and add them to a large pitcher. Add the pomegranate seeds.
- Combine Liquids: Pour the red wine, apple cider, brandy, orange juice, and maple syrup over the fruit in the pitcher.
- Add Spices: Drop in the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
- Stir and Chill: Stir the mixture to combine all the flavors. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible, to let the flavors meld.
- Serve: Pour the sangria into glasses, top with sparkling water or club soda if desired, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or fresh apple slice.
